Andy Rubin was born on June 22, 1946, in the United States. He is a successful figure behind the development of the Android operating system. He had known the world of gadgets since he was a child, where he was accustomed to seeing his father carry electronic products for sale. This habit makes Rubin very fond of the robot world. This is the reason why Android uses robots as its mascot. His passion for electronics in the form of robots made him continue to explore the world.

While working at Carl Zeiss A.G., he was placed in the robotics division. It is placed in a division that enables digital communication between networks and measuring devices. Rubin also worked at a robot company in Switzerland.

His career in the field of robotics came to light. He continued to develop his expertise in the field of robotics. The peak, when he vacationed in Cayman Island in 1989. This holiday brought him to Bill Caswell. This meeting led Rubin to the Apple company. Bill offered him a job at Apple. While working in manufacturing at Apple, Rubin was a naughty figure. He often does certain ignorance, such as reprogramming the telephone system. His expertise in the field of robotics made him move to the research section.

When Apple founded the General Magic company, Rubin was also involved. The company is engaged in the development of handheld devices and communications. Rubin and his co-workers succeeded in making a soft device, the Magic Cup. The existence of the Magic Cup was unsuccessful due to a lack of appreciation from consumers which resulted in the company being destroyed. However, the destruction of the Magic Cup actually gave rise to a new idea called Artemis Research, where Rubin was involved in it. This company developed the Web TV as a first step to combine the internet with television.

When the Artemis company was bought by Microsoft in 1997, Rubin also joined Microsoft. His job was no different from Apple. Together with his colleagues, he made a robot equipped with a camera to judge his friends.

Unfortunately, the robot was attacked by outsiders. In 1999. Rubin left the Web TV. He rented a shop in Palo Alto, California and turned it into a laboratory.

In that place, Rubin keeps a lot of robots. In that place also gave birth to an idea to create a new product. He also founded Danger, Inc.

With his colleagues. With Danger, Inc. Began a product called Sidekick. The device is called the Danger Hip-hop on the market known as the T-Mobile Sidekick.

For Rubin, these devices are data accesses with telephone capabilities. Its presence on the market is faced with the fact that PDAs have lost the market. Again, Rubin emphasized that Sidekick is not a PDA.

Danger, Inc. It also managed to become a bridge between handset makers and network providers. Danger, Inc. decided to share profits with T-Mobile in the Sidekick service. This collaboration is a step for Danger, Inc. can make a company that is in line with TMobile sales. Sidekick gained the attention of the telecommunications world because it was considered to bring renewal in the IT Development mindset.

Rubin left Danger in 2004. Then, in 2008, Microsoft bought Danger, Inc. and continue the development of sidekicks to become more mature telecommunications products.

Two years after leaving Danger, Inc., Rubin had gotten into the world of cameras, before finally finding Android. Rubin incubated Android when he became an entrepreneur in residence with a venture capital firm, Redpoint Ventures in 2004. According to Rubin, Android originated from a simple idea, namely a robust and open mobile platform that can drive innovation faster for the benefit of customers.

In July 2005, exactly 22 months after Android stood, Google bought the company. Rubin also chose to join Google. When buying Android, Inc., Google did not specify the price paid and what it wanted to do with the company. In fact, Google calls the purchase an acquisition of human resources and technology alone. In addition to Andy Rubin, Google has indeed earned many brilliant people from Android. Including Andy McFadden (TV Web developer with Rubin, and also developer of Moxi Digital), Richard Miner (former vice president of the telecommunications company Orange), and Chris White (Android founder and display designer and Web TV interface).

With Google, Android is given extra strength. The company from Mountain View, California, then formed the Open Handset Alliance to develop devices for Android. Android devices that are on the market are not just made by Google. Android heavyweight fighters including Motorola, Samsung and HTC, each throw their Android phones on the market.

In the United States, Motorola Droid is one of Verizon Wireless’s weapons against the iPhone from AT & T. Whereas, Nexus One, Google’s Android phone made by HTC comes without “service ties” on one particular operator. The presence of Android seems to be trying to shake up the dominance of the mobile market in the United States. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, Android has become a prima donna, after appearing in a tumultuous Indonesia Cellular Show 2010.

Android has a lot of attention, both in its home country (America) and throughout the world. In fact, Android proved to be able to break the dominance of Windows Phone and iOS at the time. Android is also one of the causes of the collapse of the Blackberry in recent years.

At present, Android is the most innovative and prospective operating system for many telecommunications equipment development companies. The great success now achieved by Android certainly will never happen if there is no genius in the field of technology, namely Andy Rubin.
